What is fiber?
Fiber is a type of carbohydrate found mainly in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and legumes.
Adults and children need fiber every day to help our body’s function properly, combat disease, feel full and so much more.
Unfortunately, most people in the US only get about half the fiber they need each day, if that!
Why We Need Water!
Without enough water aka proper hydration, dysfunction and disease will result because every cell in our body needs water.
Water is the base for body fluids, including saliva, blood, urine, sweat, and joint fluid. Like the Earth, our body is made of nearly 70% water- every organ you can think of contains water (Google it!)!
And if you thought “8 cups of water a day” was cutting it - nope!
The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined that an adequate daily fluid intake is:
About 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day for men
About 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women
No worries, there are many simple ways to increase your water intake — did you know you can EAT your water?!
